Flight cancellations on the rise at Lufthansa

(Boursier.com) — Hard return to reality at Lufthansa. After announcing the cut of 900 flights last month, the German flag carrier said it was canceling an additional 2,200 flights in Germany and Europe in July and August after a wave of coronavirus infections worsened staff shortages. Travel demand has rebounded significantly in Europe with the lifting of anti-virus measures, leaving some airlines without an immediate solution to cope with the strong recovery in activity. A new epidemic wave and the discontent of some of the staff within several carriers calling for work to be stopped in order to obtain salary increases in the face of soaring inflation further complicate the situation in European skies.
