Shoe trend of fashion week
You’ll never think of that – and we all have it in our closets

The fashion world inspires us every year with unusual looks. A lot is predictable, after all, fashion experts and designers speculate long in advance what the trend will be. However, nobody would have expected these shoes on the catwalk: flip-flops!

With flip-flops, we first associate flashy bathing sandals, summer vacation and the beach. In everyday life, they are only used when things have to go fast. For example, a short walk with the dog or an evening visit to the kiosk around the corner. Wearing the thongs for a special occasion almost sounds like a fashion sin. So it’s hard to believe that these shoes have now conquered fashion week… No shoe was worn more often at the Burberry show for spring/summer 2023 in Bermondsey. There we mainly got to see flip-flops – but in all variations!
Flip-flops: break with style
Naomi Campbell walked the catwalk in a long skirt and matching jacket, while Mariacarla Boscono wore an elegant, strapless dress. Both women paired their look with black flip flops. Stella Maxwell and Bella Hadid followed in a heel variant. This ran through the entire collection, all the other models also wore flip-flops in all shapes and colors with their elegant robes. Even guests joined the look. Kanye West wore all black. And on the feet? Flip flops of course! In this case set with silver gemstones.

The flip-flop trend proves once again that it’s less about what we wear and more about how we wear it. Everything can be stylishly combined and, above all, reinterpreted. Plus, flip-flops give us a certain closeness on the runway. We all have at least one pair in our closet and there are also a number of new models for a fair price. Styling has never been easier!

Buying a Flip-Flop: Do’s and Don’ts
As excited as we may be about the flip-flop comeback, we’ve all probably found that flip-flops aren’t exactly the most comfortable shoes. Although they allow the foot a lot of air and don’t pinch, they also offer little support. Prolonged wear can lead to tired, cramped feet and awkward gait. When buying, you should therefore pay attention to a springy sole with good cushioning and a high-quality footbed. Otherwise, we recommend models with a plateau or with a narrow mini heel (kitten heel) for the additional glamor effect.

Watch out! Well-groomed feet are a must for wearers. The flip-flop comeback also offers the perfect opportunity to pamper yourself with a pedicure.
