Flixbus: This is how easy it is to cancel your ticket

The ticket for your trip with the Flixbus has been booked, but suddenly something unexpected comes up? No problem. Thanks to the cancellation, you will, in the best case scenario, receive a full refund. But in order for this to be successful, there are a few things to consider. The situation is similar when rebooking your trip.

You have several options to cancel your ticket. You can either do it via the Flixbus website, the official Flixbus app or the classic way, directly on site at one of the sales points. You will always receive a refund in the form of a voucher that you can redeem on your next trip. This is valid for 12 months. There is no cash payout.

You have to keep this in mind when canceling

In principle, cancellation is possible up to 15 minutes before departure. However, you must pay attention to the cancellation conditions. The later you cancel the booking, the smaller the refund will be. The safest option is to cancel your ticket more than a month before the start of your trip, then you will receive the entire amount back as a voucher.

For extras such as seat reservations and additional luggage, you will always receive the entire amount back as a voucher if you cancel. Booking and service fees are excluded from refunds.

If your travel partner drops out, you don’t necessarily have to cancel your entire trip. It is also possible to remove or change individual passengers or pieces of luggage from your booking.

Rebooking before the trip

If you want to start your journey but change something about your booking, that is also possible. Here too, this can be done up to 15 minutes before the departure time. Simply log into the “Manage my booking” area, click on “Change departure date/time” and make the desired changes.

However, you can only edit the time of departure or arrival or the location if it is in the same city. If you want to choose a new location for the start or destination, you must cancel your trip and rebook it.

When rebooking, please note that no previously purchased extras such as seat reservations will be transferred. The amount you paid for this will either be credited towards the new trip or refunded as a voucher.

It may also happen that the price of your new ride differs from the old one. If it is more expensive, you have to pay the price difference. If it is cheaper, you will be issued a voucher.

Change of passenger data

Changing the passenger data (telephone number/name) is free of charge and can also be done via the “Manage my booking” area. After the change you will receive a new booking number.

But the same applies here: If the trip is more expensive than the originally booked trip at the time the passenger name is changed, you will be charged the surcharge.

If you make a mistake when booking, you have the option to rebook or cancel the ticket up to 60 minutes after booking without deduction of cancellation fees. However, trips that have already been rebooked are excluded from this rule.
