Biography of Florian Silbereisen
A record deal at the age of nine, and his first television appearance at the age of ten in Karl Moik’s ‘Wie die Alten sungen’. At 20, Florian Silbereisen was already an old hand when he was invited to Moik’s ‘Musikantenstadl’. Did the doyen of folk music already have an inkling that he had before him the future face of German-language folk music?
Practice early: Florian Silbereisen loves music and stage air
Florian Silbereisen has two sisters and two brothers and was born a latecomer after an eight-year break. As a little boy, even before he started school, the boy learned to play an instrument: his beloved Styrian harmonica. At the tender age of six he was already performing with the duo Merry Almdudler, his he released his first album when he was 16. His likeable, easy-going manner made Florian predestined to present TV shows.
At the age of 20 he began to gather his first experiences, at only 22 he presented his own Saturday evening show on the ARD, as the successor to Carmen Nebel, who had led him through the ‘Festivals of Folk Music’. Now he had to deliver the full program: moderating, singing, dancing, performing little skits and proving through tests of courage that he was not a coward! It’s probably not surprising that he was met with envy and malice in the process – while many viewers loved him, others found him annoying and self-absorbed. Comedians could no longer hold back and imitated the appearances of Florian Silbereisen, who was initially conspicuously bleached, in shows like ‘Switch’.
From newcomer to popular showmaster
Florian Silbereisen could handle it. And he taught a lesson to any doubters who thought a man that young didn’t fit on a folk music show. After all, he could already look back on 15 years of experience at the time, during which he learned how to deal with the audience at tent festivals, among other things. His greatest role model: show legend Peter Alexander, but he also admires Rudi Carrell. Silbereisen certainly sees itself as “Rebel of folk music”. So it’s fitting that there’s a flashing tattoo on his upper arm too!
Versatility is key, and so the talented entertainer is not content with the role of moderator. He made his acting debut in 2006 in the ARD film ‘King of Hearts’. In the same year she was also a musical star on stage, in the Sissi musical ‘Elisabeth’. And since 2015, together with Jan Smit (from the Netherlands) and Christoff de Bolle (from Belgium) and the joint band “Klubbb 3”, he has been making crisp feel-good hits chart-ready throughout Europe.
Dream couple with a tattoo: Florian Silbereisen and Helene Fischer
In 2005, a very special person entered Florian Silbereisen’s life: Helene Fischer had her first major television appearance in his ‘Wedding Festival of Folk Music’. Although the two sang a romantic duet, it didn’t spark immediately — it wasn’t until 2008, when they chatted privately backstage during a tour. Soon the lovers publicly confessed that they are a couple. A real dream team that has a lot in common, from years of tinkering to folk festivals to a love of the mountains to jogging.
Florian proved that he is serious about Helene with a large tattoo: he allegedly invested a small fortune, around 1000 euros, to get the tattoo on his left upper arm in several sessions. The skin was first spotted by photographers in 2013 when the couple were vacationing in Mallorca. The tattoo has since been seen on his TV shows when he bare-chested for his daring stunts.
Surprising breakup 2018
In September 2016, the Schlager dream couple is said to have gotten serious, according to “Starnberger Merkur”. Instead of the previously rented villa, the two are now buying a property, allegedly with a swimming pool, their own boathouse and a total of 3000 square meters of land. However, the wedding never happened, to the disappointment of the fans: in December 2018, Silbereisen and Fischer admitted that they had split up and were looking to the future under new conditions. Fischer already has a new friend – and new single Florian Silbereisen can perhaps make the hearts of his often female fans tremble a little more.
Florian Silbereisen becomes part of the DSDS jury
The casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” is to start a new round in 2022, but with new faces on the jury. With Toby Gad and Ilse DeLange alongside pop favorite Florian Silbereisen, the jurors will be completely reshuffled. We can be curious to see how the entertainer goes on the search for new singing talents. Maybe there will soon be Germany’s new hit star?
