Florian Silbereisen: The most popular German show star turns 40

Florian Silbereisen is celebrating his 40th birthday. This is how the singer and presenter became the Germans’ favorite show star.

Florian Silbereisen turns 40 on August 4th. Congratulations! Nevertheless, the question arises: already – or first? On the one hand, we see a timeless young man who obviously cannot be assigned to any age. On the other hand, it seems to us as if this guy with the eternal ageless smile has been on the road as a show star for what feels like 50 years.

Of course he hasn’t been doing gymnastics on the show stages in Germany for 50 years. But when he gives “The big hit beach party for his birthday” on August 14th from 8:15 pm on Das Erste, he can also celebrate his 30th professional anniversary.

From child star to Bohlen successor

Florian Silbereisen has had a remarkable career as a complete package. He is a musician, pop singer, presenter, showmaster, juror and actor in one. In terms of versatility, he even surpasses a man who likes to be celebrated as the great Zampano of the show industry. So it is only logical that Silbereisen also took the place of pop titan Dieter Bohlen (67) as RTL juror for “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”.

Silbereisen started as a child star. He was not yet ten years old when he was able to look far beyond the horizon of his home village Tiefenbach in the district of Passau (Lower Bavaria). The parents had given the boy an accordion, a Styrian harmonica, which Florian quickly learned on and took lessons from the Bavarian folk musician Hermann Huber, a two-time world champion on the Styrian “Ziach”.

Beginnings in the “Musikantenstadl”

In 1991 the first instrumental single “Florian mit der Steirische Harmonika” was released, in the same year folk musician Karl Moik (1938-2015) brought him to his “Musikantenstadl”. From this point on, the little Silbereisen was an integral part of the folk music scene. He made music, sang and performed with stars like Stefan Mross (45) and Stefanie Hertel (42). In 2002 he made his debut on MDR with the program “Mit Florian, Hut und Wanderstock” as a presenter, two years later he succeeded Carmen Nebel (65) in the ARD Saturday evening show “Feste der Volksmusik”.

Everything seemed to fall into the lap of the extremely friendly, always smiling Silbereisen, and his career path continued steeply upwards:

After the death of Rudi Carrell (1934-2006), Silbereisen re-enacted his popular show “On the Run”.

He inherited Bernhard Brink (69) with his programs “Die Schlager des Sommers” and “Die Schlager des Jahres”.

He followed Xavier Naidoo (49) as a juror in the 17th season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”.

After the Bohlen departure, RTL announced that Florian Silbereisen will be the new juror at “DSDS”.

“A dream, but not my plan”

It sounds a bit funny when he says to the magazine “Bunte”: “I’m an absolute country bumpkin. Out of home and out into the big city? I never had that moment. On the contrary.” As a teenager he played at village festivals and birthdays and was happy with them. “It was perhaps a dream that I was allowed to stand on the really big stages at some point, but it wasn’t my plan.”

Be that as it may: At the absolute climax, the public-law Silbereisen hype seemed to spill over. In 2019, ZDF presented him as the new “dream ship” captain Max Parger: a smiling Florian Silbereisen in neat white, but the captain’s hat, the crowning glory of his career, seemed a bit too big on his ears.

Discussion about the captain’s hat

The former head stewardess Heide Keller (81) spoke of a “wrong choice”. That was not an insult, she assured in the “gala” interview. “Anyone who understands the language of the theater knows what I mean. It’s nice that he spreads happiness. (…) Only: The captain is responsible for a few hundred people. The people in front of the screen have to be able to believe that he is Bringing passengers safely from port to port. He must therefore be able to exude this competence. “

The anger is limited, not an issue for Florian Silbereisen. The actor Wolfgang Fierek (70), who sometimes makes his way through life as a singer, jumped Silbereisen to the side and scolded “derwesten.de”: “What’s the nonsense? I think it’s a shame when colleagues scold other colleagues.” He was surprised how well Florian fit in there. The image of the rough fur seal on the bridge has long been a thing of the past, with the ships the captains are also becoming more modern. In any case, Silbereisen has extended his contract as Max Parger until 2024.

No happy ending with Helene Fischer

Unfortunately, the favorite picture that the Germans have of Florian Silbereisen is not being extended. There will be no comeback with show star Helene Fischer (36). The two were together from 2008 to 2018 – the German dream couple. Then she sadly announced the end of the relationship and the beginning of her new one with the acrobat Thomas Seitel (36).

She is said to have dedicated her song “would be my last day today” to Silbereisen. In it she sings about the very great love: “Today would be my last day, I lived it with you. As far as the sky reaches, there would be happiness in me …” Even today, both feel in, if you are like that want, harmonious harmony – as best friends. In “Bunte” he speaks of regular contacts and: “Our time together will always connect us and I am very grateful for this wonderful friendship.” He couldn’t have sung it more beautifully.

Officially, Florian Silbereisen is still single since the separation from Helene Fischer. Nothing specific is not known. He himself is unusually buttoned up. Perhaps they are already working on a sensational happy ending on ZDF: Helene Fischer is hired as the new chief stewardess and falls in love with Captain Parger more and more and more and more inescapable. That would bring tears to the eyes even of the old albatross on the tallest mast of the dream ship.
