Flown to the hospital – snowboarder crashes into skier – injured

In the hospital, a local (59) ski trip on the glacier in Sölden ended on Wednesday morning. The man was rammed from behind by a local snowboarder (31). Both athletes fell. The 59-year-old had to be rescued by helicopter.

The accident occurred around 10.30 a.m. The 31-year-old snowboarder and the 59-year-old skier were skiing on a slope on the glacier in Sölden. “Suddenly the snowboarder came from behind and drove into the skier’s back,” the police said. Both men fell and were injured as a result of the collision.

Snowboarder only slightly injured
After the rescue, the skier was flown to the Zams hospital by ambulance helicopter. Despite injuries, the snowboarder was able to ski down to the valley station on his own. Once the surveys have been completed, a report will be made to the responsible authorities.
