Thanks to the relationship of trust, they could also convince skeptical people to get vaccinated, said Yvonne Gilli, who was elected president of the FMH doctors’ association a year ago, in an interview with the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”. However, one problem remains.
Missing corona vaccinations in the family doctor’s office
General practitioners could not order single doses for vaccination. This practically excludes small practices. Some chronically ill patients would be vaccinated immediately after a conversation, but would not want to do so at a later date.
The FMH has already pointed out this deficiency to the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) several times. But the political will is evidently lacking. The BAG does not involve the clinically active physicians enough in its decisions.
Cooperation between general practitioners and the FOPH
Gilli criticizes the sluggish pace of the introduction of the new Tardoc tariff system, which downgrades the overtariff services and puts general practitioners in a better position. The tariff has been available to the Federal Council for approval since 2019. However, the interior department is arbitrarily setting the hurdles higher and constantly changing the rules of the game.
Health Minister Alain Berset is a key figure in this. And the doctors need good cooperation with the BAG. The FMH simply states that Berset’s department is making great efforts to comprehensively control the healthcare system.
“We resist such state medicine with a bloated administrative apparatus,” Gilli said in the interview. It cannot be in the interests of the patients. This also applies to the introduction of a cost ceiling or a global budget.
