Elon Musk is taking a break from Twitter
When Tesla boss Elon Musk tweets, it doesn't go unheard. But on the contrary. His remarks often even stir up the financial markets. Most recently, it has driven the price of some companies up by mentions alone. But that is the end of it for "a while".
The entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk is taking a break from Twitter: "Away from Twitter for a while," wrote the founder and head of Tesla and SpaceX, as usual, briefly on his profile. Most recently, Musk had repeatedly driven their prices up with simple mentions of companies on Twitter. He also got involved in the stock market battle for the computer game dealer Gamestop.
Musk had only recently pushed Amazon boss Jeff Bezos from the throne of the world's richest person with an estimated fortune of 185 billion dollars (almost 154 billion euros). Musk has almost 45 million followers on Twitter – his comments are watched with eagle eyes by his fans. How long and why Musk wants to withdraw from Twitter, he left open.
But his Twitter demeanor already caused him considerable trouble. In August 2018, he caused a stir with a tweet in which he pondered about taking Tesla off the stock exchange.
This caused a stir on the stock markets, the US Securities and Exchange Commission accused Musk of misleading shareholders. He had to resign as Tesla supervisory board chairman and was given conditions for his statements in online media.
