Football Death of Jean-Philippe Forêt, former OL goalkeeper

“Burgundian from Mâcon, Jean-Philippe Forêt had known all the clubs in his region of origin, as a goalkeeper or as a coach: Montceau les Mines (several times), Gueugnon, Nevers, Macon, Louhans-Cuiseaux, La Chapelle de Guinchay…”, recalls OL in a press release paying tribute to the player.

He had caused a sensation, at the Gerland stadium, on November 7, 1987, by repelling all Lyon’s attacks and allowing FC Montceau to beat OL (2/0) in Division 2.

When he was only 20 years old, Jean-Philippe Forêt then joined OL in the summer of 1989, to become the understudy of François Lemasson (1989/1990) then Gilles Rousset (1990/1992).

Usual goalkeeper of the reserve team and player respected and appreciated in the professional group, he had played 1 match under the Lyon tunic. It was November 8, 1989, at the Stade Gerland, on the occasion of the 18th day of Division 1, against Mulhouse, for a victory (3/1).

He passed away on Tuesday after a long illness.

Our editorial staff extends its condolences to his family and loved ones.
