Serie A: Okafor plays, scores and wins
In his first Serie A appearance from the start, Noah Okafor was able to get straight into the top scorer list. The Swiss striker reacted quickly in the 40th minute after a rebound in the penalty area and scored from close range to make it 1-1 for Milan. His goal was the start of the turnaround in Cagliari, with the Milanese ultimately winning 3-1. Thanks to the fifth win in the sixth game, Milan overtook Juventus in the table, which presented on Tuesday, and caught up with Yann Sommer’s Inter. Milan’s Stadrivale surprisingly lost to Sassuolo 1-2 on Wednesday evening. At halftime, Sommer’s team was still leading 1-0 before former Grasshopper Nedim Bajrami and European champion Domenico Berardi turned the game around for the guests.

EFL Cup: City eliminated
Manchester City had to say goodbye to the English League Cup early on. The reigning Champions League winners lost 1-0 away to Newcastle United in the 1/16 finals. Both teams rested a few regular players, with Fabian Schär only being substituted on in stoppage time at Newcastle, while Erling Haaland languished on the bench for the entire game at City. Liverpool (3-1 against Leicester), Arsenal (1-0 at Brentford) and Chelsea (1-0 against Brighton), however, advanced to the next round.
Eredivisie: Clear defeat for Ajax in the classic
Ajax Amsterdam lost the continuation of the classic against Feyenoord Rotterdam 0-4 on Wednesday. The game was on Sunday with the score 3-0 for Feyenoord in the 55th minute after fans threw fireworks onto the pitch. The remaining minutes were played without spectators. Ajax are in 14th place in the Eredivisie after this defeat. After violent protests from their own fans, the chairman of the supervisory board, Pier Eringa, resigned shortly before the game. The club had already parted ways with football director Sven Mislintat on Sunday.
LaLiga: Girona takes over the top of the table
After 7 rounds, the leader in Spain is surprisingly called Girona. The Catalan team, which finished last season as a promoted team in 10th place, won away against Villarreal 2-1.
