Football star is missing from Bayern: Kimmich has to be quarantined again

FC Bayern is missing a football star
Kimmich has to go back to quarantine

Professional footballer Joshua Kimmich has contact with a person suffering from Corona. Because the national player is not vaccinated, he has to be quarantined again. So he is missing from FC Bayern in a Bundesliga game and probably also in the Champions League.

Due to the contact with his teammate Niklas Süle, who tested positive for the corona virus, Joshua Kimmich was last in quarantine for a week, now the FC Bayern professional has to be in isolation again, according to information from RTL and ntv: Kimmich had contact with one in his private sphere person suffering from corona.

According to the regulations of the responsible health department, the unvaccinated national player is initially absent for at least seven days. Then the 26-year-old can be freest of all, should he not become ill himself and remain symptom-free. With that, Kimmich missed at least the Bundesliga match in the evening against FC Augsburg (8.30 p.m. / Sky and in the live ticker on ntv.de) and on Tuesday in the Champions League at Dynamo Kiev.

“It annoys and occupies you”

On Thursday, the club had already confirmed that Kimmich could not train for the time being, “because he had contact in private with a corona suspect. That has not yet been confirmed either. We are waiting for the PCR result.” That has now turned out to be positive. Kimmich was also absent from his team’s easy morning training session on Friday before the Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg in the evening.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann once again urged Kimmich and Co. to get vaccinated on Thursday. The risk is “on the platter. The numbers are frightening. We notice it for ourselves too. There are always problem cases”. Nagelsmann puts the annoying topic more and more to the table. “It annoys and occupies you. Nobody asks anything about Augsburg, we only talk about the pandemic,” he said, adding emphatically: “I am a trainer and not employed as a pandemic officer.” It is only about “2G and 3G. It binds a lot of thoughts, there is a lot of discussion. The pandemic is not letting go of us.”

Kimmich had just returned from quarantine. At the beginning of November, Bayern professionals Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Niklas Süle had to leave the DFB team: Defender Süle had tested positive for the corona virus, the other three had to be quarantined as suspected or known to be unvaccinated contacts. While Gnabry and Musiala were able to start training again on Wednesday, Kimmich is now missing again. Colleague Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who also had to be in isolation as a contact person for Süle, had already traveled to the Cameroon national team at the beginning of the week and is now back in Munich. He is also available to Nagelsmann.
