PSG is now reportedly looking for a new stadium. In any case, this is what is implied in this new letter sent by the capital club to the Île-de-France region to find land on which to build its future enclosure. Pressure from the club against the Paris town hall or a credible hypothesis?

Paris Saint-Germain is looking for land. The capital club sent a letter to the Île-de-France region to find the place where it intends to build its new stadium. A sign that PSG would like to leave the Parc des Princes?

“For all supporters, PSG is Paris”

This looks like a bit of pressure from the management of the Parisian club. It’s hard to believe that PSG will one day leave the Parc des Princes. It’s as if Real Madrid were leaving the legendary Santiago Bernabéu. In reality, with this letter, the Parisian club is sending a new stone into the garden of Paris town hall, which still refuses the sale of the stadium.

Because it is very complicated to build a new stadium. In particular, you need to find a town with land of more than 50 hectares, close to public transport. However, after the frenzy of applications, including the most improbable, Châteaudun, located more than two hours by car from the capital, certain towns are starting to put the brakes on.

This is the case of Gonesse, in Val-d’Oise. Its mayor, Jean-Pierre Blazy, does not want his town to be, in some way, the turkey of the joke: “I would not want to be sold dreams again. We are in a standoff between the club and the city of Paris. I know that, for all supporters, PSG is Paris. It is not Gonesse, nor other cities which are officially candidates.” So if Montigny-le-Bretonneux, near Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, has positioned itself to host the new PSG stadium, giving itself a good publicity stunt in the process, others have given up, like Saint- Germain-en-Laye, whose name is nevertheless associated with the Parisian club.
