Football World Cup: Switzerland tames Cameroon

by Matthieu Cointe (iDalgo)

Successful start for the Nati in this 2022 World Cup. This Thursday, Switzerland won by the smallest of margins against Cameroon in the first match of group G (1-0). The Indomitable Lions came into the game well and got the clearest chances in the first period, through Eric Choupo-Moting and Karl Toko-Ekambi. But Murat Yakin’s men woke up in the second act and Breel Embolo, a native of Yaoundé, crucified his country of origin on an offering from Xherdan Shaqiri (48′). The Helvetics then controlled the match to come out with three points at the end of the match. Switzerland take the lead in Group F, pending the outcome of the duel between Brazil and Serbia this Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Next Monday, the Nati will meet the Seleção in a match scheduled for 5 p.m.
