The end-of-year celebrations, and more particularly the Christmas period, are a real opportunity to reconnect with simple pleasures. What are yours? Our paper is to be savored like a story 🙂

That’s it, here we are. Christmas Eve is in a few hours. The passage of Santa Claus is imminent, and the opening of gifts (we are not going to deprive ourselves of it) should not delay any longer, we promise. This year, the Christmas holidays have the advantage of falling on a Saturday for December 24 and a Sunday for December 25. Many French people will therefore have more time to indulge in the pleasures of the moment: eating, drinking (in moderation! ), share a moment with friends or family, relax in front of Mom I missed the plane ! for the 58e times, make a remake of the World Cup final on FIFA 23or let off steam on the new season of Fortnite. At Clubic, you will see that everyone has their plans for Christmas.

There are those who celebrate Christmas in a certain tradition…

Obviously, at Clubic, many of us live with new technologies on a daily basis. Much like you, we’re sure. For some, like our editor Robin, the holidays are a time to unplug the wires a bit.

For this Christmas 2022, I will unplug my PC and my PS5 to pass between the drops of the SNCF strike in order to spend it with the family, despite the classic winter illnesses. Good food, medication and a few days of rest without the fuss, in short. Happy holidays to the extensive writing of Clubic as well as to our dear readers! »

At Moa, one of our emeritus moderators, we rather stick to something quite traditional, also cutting with tech and blowing up… the accordion, yes! Music softens morals, let’s not forget that.

For me, Christmas Eve was yesterday evening, Friday: family meal with the children. Tonight (the real New Year’s Eve calendar), it’s with my half, and Sunday noon, with the in-laws… No consoles or PC games, but aperitif games at the start of the meal (Pigeon Pigeon, TTMC. ..), and at the end of the meal, presentation of gifts. That is all. Happy holidays to everyone. »

For once, our editor Mathieu will also leave work and the world of new technologies aside for a few hours.

For this Christmas weekend, we leave tech aside for a few hours, and let’s rest in duet with the traditional Disney film to digest the turkey and the log (it will be Avalonia, the strange journey This year). And of course: an umpteenth rerun of Love Actually (a must, but without displeasure). Happy holidays to all. »

And Eric, our Mr Espace, in all this, what does he think? Has he planned a getaway to the ISS? A family visit to the Cité de l’Espace? No, none of that.

For this Christmas in the South West, it is… very hot, so we enjoy the family, but also the temperatures for a Christmas tour at the beach (zero snow tires required) with a picnic and the waves background. However, we do not put away the controller: the family that comes, it is also challenges around some parts of Among Us or Fall Guys as well as games further from the screen. The base, one might add!

Well, we are facing a rather nice program, right? When yours truly went in search of some testimonials, he found (very strange to speak of himself in the third person) on his way fine blades of humor which have, let’s say, another relationship with Christmas.

… and those who can see things differently 🙂

Take for example Xavier, our accomplished back-end developer and commentator legend of Street Fighter II (he really excels, I assure you). Christmas, for him, is a bit of an opportunity to get back to “basics”, as our rugby friends say.

Last year, at Christmas, we had cut off the Wi-Fi. Our children had then left their rooms; we had been able to chat a bit, they seemed nice. We will probably do the same again this year to see what they become. Joking aside, for me, it’s a small family meal, distribution of gifts and, when everyone is sleeping, the right time to relaunch an NG+ run of Dark Souls 3. »

Definitely, Xavier, aka Soixante, does not forget the fundamentals. Mélany, who is part of the team of editorial secretaries (so precious behind-the-scenes work, by the way), compares herself to the Grinch, downright. But, what’s got into him? 😮

Christmas has never been my forte haha! As I caught quite a cold, my ideal New Year’s Eve would be in bed with a good cup of hot water with honey and Blackwater volume 6 to devour. Instead, it will be a meal with the family and the in-laws, without forgetting my faithful friends the handkerchiefs and the Doliprane. But it’s very cool too. Merry Christmas to everyone ! »

In the family of mods, I call Palou. The latter thought to surprise us, but he is not the only one to be a bit reluctant when faced with the prospect of Christmas.

My case is likely to be very different from many people, because the better I get, the less I like Christmas. I let my wife buy her present (or thereabouts) and me personally…nothing! No idea for me, not something that interests me, I have leafed through all the ads I have been able to receive for a month, I have toured the DIY departments at Leroy Merlin, nothing tells me in all of that. Another camera possibly, but much too expensive to have at least as good as the one I have… Not easy, life, isn’t it? »

No, Palou, your case is not unique, rest assured. Christmas has its followers… and the others. But promised, all these beautiful people are filled with kindness. Don’t we have the right to be a bit honest anymore, damn it? About this, Marc, an experienced tape editor, had a dream. He tells us:

When Alexandre asked me what my ideal Christmas would be, I hesitated between two possibilities: lie and describe a dream moment… or tell the truth. I don’t like the holiday season. My dearest wish would be to spend Christmas in PLS on my sofa, without having to take care of anything or having to leave my house. It’s probably my bear side talking… I don’t need this commercial party to see my loved ones and give them presents! »

Hey, oh, Marc, calm down! You wouldn’t want to break the mood, by any chance?

Come to think of it, I can still watch a movie while being PLS on my sofa (the TV is right in front, it’s practical). I would happily fall for a classic like Singing in the Rain which has just been reissued in a beautifully restored 4K Collector’s version. It is accompanied by photos, a poster and a particularly well done 50-page book. »

We are takers of the recommendation in any case, thank you Marc!

Well, you will have understood, this paper was written based on real testimonials, but with lightness and humor, on the one hand to address you under a different prism than that of news, files, tests and other good plans that you enjoy every day. And above all, yes, above all: to wish you all, and from the bottom of our hearts, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We all need it.

Let’s not forget the essentials, though! And you? What have you planned for this weekend under the sign of Christmas? And let’s be crazy, if you had an ideal Christmas, don’t hesitate to share it with the entire Clubic community. Readers and teams will be happy to taste your comments like a piece of log at the end of a meal.
