For his sober investiture, Emmanuel Macron invites 500 people

Jacques Chirac and François Mitterrand had only invited around sixty during their re-investiture ceremony. Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande will notably be present during that of Emmanuel Macron.

A certain conception of sobriety. Under the golds of the Elysée village hall, Emmanuel Macron will be invested, Saturday morning at 11 a.m., for his second five-year term during a ceremony wanted frugal by the president. The red carpet will only be rolled out halfway through the main courtyard of the presidential palace and there will be no going up the Champs-Elysées. The ceremony should resemble those of previous re-elected presidents, François Mitterrand in 1988 and Jacques Chirac in 2002. With one detail, however: the number of guests.

The Head of State has actually invited 450 personalities, in addition to his family. Nearly 500 people will therefore attend this Republican rally. We are far from the sixty guests of Presidents Chirac and Mitterrand during their “reinvestiture”. At 11 a.m. this Saturday, Emmanuel Macron will therefore enter the village hall, the largest and most prestigious room in the palace under the eyes of a host of dignitaries of the Republic.

Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande present

Among the most eminent, we could notably cite the former presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande. But also ministers and certain former members of the government (Edouard Philippe or Nicole Belloubet in particular), representatives of major institutions or constituted bodies. As well as a long list of veterans of politics from the left (Jean-Pierre Chevènement, Élisabeth Guigou, Manuel Valls) as from the right with in particular Jean-Pierre Raffarin.

A number of local elected officials were also invited, including mayors who hosted the Head of State during his great national debate in 2019: those of Souillac, Gréoux-les-Bains or Bourg-de-Péage. Karl Olive, city councilor of Poissy and friend of Emmanuel Macron, will also be there. The president also invited caregivers to whom he wishes to pay tribute, athletes or association leaders.
