This May 25, 2022, Street View will celebrate its fifteenth anniversary in France. Google has therefore rewarded us with a few ads that aim to improve the user experience, but also the captures made by the American firm around the world.

Almost everyone knows the famous Google car equipped with a camera and which criss-crosses the cities of the whole world… At present, Street View has been deployed across a good hundred countries and covers some 16 million kilometers of road. As it celebrates its 15th anniversary, this extremely handy feature is getting an update on smartphones and tablets.

Go back in time!

Since 2014, the web version of Google Maps has allowed Internet users to see what a place or street looked like ten years ago. This extremely appreciated historical aspect was until now absent from the iOS and Android versions. This has just changed since the functionality is coming to Street View for mobile devices. Its large-scale deployment could take some time.

Finally, Google also added that a new camera titled trekkers will be used from next year with the aim of providing more and more data via Street View. Lighter, it will allow its wearer to use it with his hands. This portable camera (which can also be placed on a car) will be used to capture the interiors of certain tourist destinations more easily.
