For its new Nord CE 4, OnePlus adopts a modernized design


Present mainly in the high-end smartphone market via its 12 series including a 12R model with an attractive quality/price ratio, OnePlus intends to maintain itself in the affordable terminal segment with the help of its Nord range. The brand is planning the upcoming launch of its model, the Nord CE 4, which will be available from April 1, 2024. It should be made official a few days before, on March 21, at least in India, which will therefore be the first country in which it will be put on sale.

We note for the moment that OnePlus has revised the design that it had previously liked. The two rear photo blocks give way to a set of three vertically aligned modules, reminiscent of the design of Samsung’s Galaxy S23/24. They are included in a back shell with a softened color, if we compare it to the more vivid finishes of the Nord CE 3, and with the moiré effect. If OnePlus does not detail the characteristics of the screen, we can expect the use of Amoled technology and Full HD+ definition, like the Nord CE 3, and probably the maintenance of a diagonal of 6.7 inches .

What the manufacturer confirms, however, is the integration of a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, recently announced by Qualcomm, but also the integration of 8 GB of RAM and a maximum of 256 GB of storage , which suggests that a 128 GB version is also planned. Like the CE 3, the smartphone will benefit from a microSD port allowing it to accommodate a microSD up to 1 TB. This is also a feature that also benefited from the Nord CE 3 Lite, the only smartphone in this range that we we were able to test.

Last point confirmed by OnePlus, and not the least, the charging speed of its device. If the Nord CE 4 offered charging at 80 W, and the Nord CE 3 Lite at 67 W, the newcomer will be compatible with Super VOOC wired charging at 100 W – the remaining charger supplied with the device. An overall promising set, the price and international availability of which remain to be confirmed.
