After the mobile, it will soon be the turn of the web version of YouTube Premium to welcome the improved 1080p.

While the YouTube Premium subscription is experiencing a meteoric rise, the service on the Web will acquire a new feature already seen on mobile.

Improved 1080p? What for ?

Earlier this year, Google announced the arrival of 1080p Premium. Reserved, as its name suggests, for members of the Premium subscription, which is now more expensive in France, this option above all allows you to enjoy better rendering when watching your videos. Since YouTube’s 1080p is unfortunately not spared from artifacts and high compression, this setting gives YouTube a new way to attract more users to its paid offer.

If you use the free version of YouTube, be reassured all the same: the 1080p Premium option is not intended to replace the traditional Full HD display. Since its deployment in April, it only allows customers of the mobile version to enjoy their videos in a quality less affected by possible degradation of the image.

After mobile, 1080p Premium is coming to the web

Visibly rather satisfied by the first user feedback regarding 1080p Premium, YouTube has decided to move up a gear by extending the availability of improved 1080p to the web version. Until today, the functionality was only reserved for mobile. In particular, this will allow you to watch videos in high definition while enjoying a better bit rate. Of course, the difference will not be obvious to you either.

If you want to subscribe to YouTube’s paid offer, note that the subscription has recently seen its monthly price go from 11.99 euros to 12.99 euros in France. In the United States, YouTube Premium has undergone a $2 increase and now costs no less than $13.99 per month.
