You’ve had time to get used to your brand new Pixel 8 Pro? Now for the first rumors about the Pixel 9 with leaks concerning its design.

Now that Google is a smartphone manufacturer like Samsung and Apple, it has the right to the same treatment regarding leaks and other indiscretions. The proof with photos and videos which reveal the look of the Pixel 9 Pro, almost 8 months before its potential launch.

Aesthetic changes, not technical

It’s the rather reliable OnLeaks account, in collaboration with the site MySmartPrice, which offers us on X/Twitter this first look at Google’s future ultra high-end phone. The most notable change is obviously on the side of the photo modules at the back. It seems that Google has decided to abandon the “photo banner” characteristic of the Pixel for a barely more discreet oval growth.

The mobile still seems equipped with three sensors (like on the Pixel 8 Pro) with the exact same main sensor, the wide-angle module and the periscopic zoom packed into the body of the mobile. In fact, it is likely that Google will keep the same photo arrangement this year in order to make the hardware and software investment made with the previous generation profitable.

According to the renderings, the mobile also has the same contactless thermometer as its predecessor. Let’s hope that this time, Google finds a real use for it rather than limiting it to measuring the temperature of your coffee cup.

A closer look to the iPhone

As for the rest of the design, the Pixel 9 seems to feature flatter edges than its predecessors, a bit like the latest iPhones and their chiseled look. Otherwise, the mobile revealed by OnLeaks seems to keep a profile similar to that of the Pixel 6, 7 and 8 (within a few millimeters). We don’t change (too much) a team that wins at Google.

These leaks correspond more or less to what the roadmap unveiled in 2022 already promised, that is to say a look close to the iPhone, a slightly smaller screen and a very probable Tensor G4 processor which will put the emphasis, lo and behold, on artificial intelligence. We don’t yet know anything about the price or the release date of the Pixel 9 Pro, but no doubt Google will keep its good habits with a release in October for a price around €1000.
