Zverev meets Medvedev at the ATP Finals
Alexander Zverev avoids top favorite Novak Djokovic in the preliminary round of the ATP Finals in Turin. This results in the draw for the last highlight of the tennis season, which starts next Sunday.
Olympic champion Alexander Zverev will meet Russian defending champion Daniil Medvedev, Italian Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini and Hubert Hurkacz from Poland at the ATP Finals. At the draw for the end of the season for the eight best tennis professionals of the year, the Hamburger came into the red group on Thursday, as the professional organization ATP announced.
Zverev is avoiding a preliminary round with the Serbian top star Novak Djokovic. The world number one competes in the green group against the top Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrej Rublev from Russia and the Norwegian Casper Ruud.
The ATP Finals begin on Sunday and, after previous years in London, will be held in Turin for the first time. The first two of the two groups will advance to the semi-finals, the final will be played on November 21st. Zverev had won the tournament in 2018 and is one of the favorites again this time. Against US Open winner Medvedev, the German number one has just lost in Paris in the semifinals. Kevin Krawietz is also involved in the doubles competition. The man from Coburg will compete with his Romanian doubles partner Horia Tecau.
