The production chain of Apple devices is expected to undergo big changes in India over the next couple of years.

While Apple has lowered its ambitions for the production of iPhone 15, the Apple brand will now give more importance to the Indian market for the manufacture of its devices.

Apple: soon less and less dependent on China?

The Foxconn factory in Sriperumbudur, located in the state of Tamil Nadu, has already started production of the next iPhones, as reported by our colleagues from MacRumors (by Bloomberg). If this information is important today, it is for the simple and good reason that this is the first time that iPhone models have seen their production start outside of China when they have not yet been announced. For comparison, production of the iPhone 14 only started from the end of September on Indian territory, while it was made available in mid-September.

Still according to information from Bloomberg, the Pegatron and Wistron factories in India should also join the party soon, in addition to the Foxconn factory, for the manufacture of the iPhone 15 which is about to be formalized. For Apple, the objective of this approach is clear: to emancipate itself from China and diversify its supply chain. By 2025, the firm headed by Tim Cook would even plan to produce 25% of its iPhones in India. It should also be the same for some other flagship products of the brand (iPad, Apple Watch, AirPod).
