For an unforgettable Halloween: These five recipes are currently making the rounds on TikTok and are a real feast for the taste buds and eyes.

Halloween is just around the corner, and in addition to scary costumes like witches, vampires, etc., you also need to think about the right snacks for the scary party on October 31st. If you want to get particularly creative, you should take a look at TikTok. On the platform, thousands of users not only share their ideas for DIY costumes and decorations, but also numerous creative recipes. There are five recipes here – from bloody brain cake to mummy cookies.

Bloody brain cake

Ingredients for a cake: 4 eggs, 200 g sugar, 20 ml rapeseed oil, 200 ml milk, 1 pack of baking powder, 300 g flour, red food coloring, baking release spray, 100 g soft butter, 100 g powdered sugar, 100 g cream cheese, 500 g fondant, raspberry jam

Preparation: For the dough, beat the eggs and sugar in a baking bowl with a hand mixer. Add canola oil, milk, baking powder, flour and red food coloring and mix thoroughly.

Spray an ovenproof stainless steel bowl with a diameter of 24 cm with baking spray. Cut the baking paper into eight strips and line the bowl with them. Put the dough in the bowl and bake in the oven for 90 minutes at 165 degrees Celsius (bottom and top heat).

Let the cake cool down. Then cut off the bottom, score the middle of the “brain” and cut cake into brain shape.

For the frosting, beat the soft butter, sift in the powdered sugar and stir in the cream cheese. Put the frosting on the brain cake and score the middle again. Chill in the refrigerator until the frosting has hardened.

In the meantime, shape fondant into 20 centimeter long strands. Take the cake out of the fridge and attach strands of fondant in a spiral shape to the frosting. Then heat the jam briefly in the microwave or on the stove until it becomes more liquid. Pour over the cake and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Mummy pastries with Nutella

Ingredients for eight pieces of pastrye: 2 sheets of puff pastry, Nutella, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon milk, decorative eyes to decorate, powdered sugar

Preparation: Cut a sheet of puff pastry into eight equal rectangles. Cut the second half into strips approx. 5 cm long.

Spread the rectangles with Nutella. Mix egg and milk and brush the edge of the puff pastry with it. Then place the puff pastry strips horizontally and overlapping over the Nutella, then also brush with the egg glaze.

Bake in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for twelve minutes, let cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and attach eyes to the top half of the pastry.

Jack O’Lantern stuffed peppers

Ingredients for eight servings: butter, 1 large onion (finely chopped), 1 kg minced meat, salt and pepper, 350 ml tomato sauce, 8 orange peppers, parmesan for gratinating

Preparation: Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Fry the minced meat in a pan with a little butter. Sauté the onion in butter in another pan until translucent. Mix the minced meat and onion with 200 ml of tomato sauce.

Wash the peppers, carve pumpkin faces into them and cut off the tops (about 3 cm). Place in an ovenproof baking dish. Add the minced meat mixture to the peppers and bake in the oven with the lid on for 30 minutes.

Then pour the remaining tomato sauce into the peppers, sprinkle with Parmesan and grill in the oven for five more minutes.

Pizza pumpkins

Ingredients for eight servings: 1 pack of ready-made pizza dough, 8 teaspoons of tomato sauce, 8 mozzarella balls, other pizza ingredients of your choice, 1 egg, turmeric, basil to decorate

Preparation: Roll out the pizza dough and cut out eight circles using a cookie cutter or glass. Put 1 teaspoon of tomato sauce on each circle, add mozzarella balls and any other ingredients.

Seal the dough around the mozzarella ball and press it together. Place a piece of kitchen twine around each dough ball and knot it in the middle at the top, repeat until you have 6-8 sections. Tie the yarn.

Mix egg and turmeric and brush on the dough pumpkins. Bake until crispy in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius top/bottom heat. Allow to cool and remove twine. Then decorate with small basil leaves as pumpkin stems.

Deviled stuffed eggs with cobwebs

Ingredients for 16 servings: 8 eggs, purple and green food coloring, 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon mustard, salt, pepper, paprika powder

Preparation: Hard-boil eggs and chill in ice water. Lightly crack the eggshells with a spoon to create small cracks.

Place purple food coloring in a bowl or plastic bag and marinate the eggs in the refrigerator for three hours. The food coloring can also be replaced with beetroot juice.

Then remove the shell and halve the eggs lengthwise. Separate the egg yolks and mix them in a bowl with mayonnaise and mustard, season with salt, pepper and paprika powder. Add green food coloring.

Pour the mixture into the egg white halves using a piping bag and serve.
