Forbidden love: what was the last episode of the previous evening series?

In 2015 the last mouth fell for "Verbotene Liebe". Now the series is back with a new edition. But how did the original end?

With episode 4664 the end of "Verbotene Liebe" ("VL") was sealed after more than 20 years in 2015, now the ARD early evening series is returning as a new edition on TVNow – with some original stars slipping back into their roles. It is therefore worth taking a look back: How did the popular format end around five years ago?

With Mila von Draskow (Stefanie Rösner), no long-term role was the focus of the final. Only a few months earlier, she appeared on the series to wage a campaign of revenge against the Lahnsteins. She had them locked up in a psychiatric ward many years ago. In the end she reveals herself to her great love Martin Vogt (Bastian Semm) and confesses to the inspector that she is Steffi Köster, who was believed dead.

To their surprise, however, he does not condemn them, but has compassion. He offers her to wipe him clean with the police. Mila's partner Frederic (Nic Romm) does not want to let the secret be revealed. He knocks Martin down with an iron bar and makes it appear as if Ansgar von Lahnstein is the culprit. Mila's anger continues to grow and she swears revenge again while Ansgar is led away in handcuffs. It remains to be seen whether Martin survived the attack.

"Forbidden Love" was canceled after 20 years and six months. The first episode flickered on TV screens in January 1995. The last episode aired on June 26, 2015. According to ARD, "the decreasing audience response" was the reason for the series end. At the end of the 1990s, the former Daily attracted an average of almost three million viewers. Most recently, as Weekly – the changeover to weekly broadcasting took place in February 2015 – an average of only 1.0 million viewers.

Wolfram Grandezka (50) said goodbye to "Verbotene Liebe" in a Facebook video. As his role Ansgar, he officially resigned "his offices at Lahnstein Holding". "We really had a lot of fun, it was extremely good years", the actor also drew a personal conclusion and looked into the future of the Lahnsteins: "The holding company will be smashed, the castle will be sold, I will withdraw into private life." The new TVNow original ties in with this – and Ansgar von Lahnstein is celebrating a comeback.

The new story

Robert and Eva Verhoven (Heinz Hoenig and Stephanie Japp) and their three children Alexander, Livia and Paul (Frederik Götz, Livia Matthes, Lennart Betzgen) now live at Königsbrunn Palace. Together with Clarissa von Anstetten (Isa Jank) they celebrate successes with their fashion empire. The Lahnstein-Holding is broken, Ansgar von Lahnstein is in prison and there is no trace of Tanja von Lahnstein (Miriam Lahnstein). Shortly before the glittering anniversary party of the Verhovens, the gates to freedom open for Ansgar.

"He has lost everything and now wants everything back," Grandezka recently said in an interview with spot on news about the comeback of his role. "And of course he knows exactly which tricks to work with and which women to eat. Ansgar is completely the same."
