Ford has just unveiled the redesign of the Puma, its best-selling vehicle in Europe. On the program, a completely modernized interior and micro-hybrid engines. Unfortunately, this announcement is marred by the absence of the electric version. We will have to wait until later this year to finally discover it.
While the new Kuga hybrid has just arrived in France just three weeks ago, Ford has just presented everything this Thursday, February 8 the redesign of the Puma, its best-selling private vehicle in Europe. If the Kuga had been given a major makeover both inside and out, the modifications made by the brand to the blue oval on this Puma 2024 focus mainly on the interior.
Ford modernizes the Puma’s interior
For good reason, customers had complained about the obsolescence of the equipment, far from meeting current standards. “Puma customers love their vehicles, and we listened carefully to their suggestions,” said Murat Gueler, chief designer of the Ford Puma.
Thus, this new edition includes a large 12-inch central screen and larger digital instrumentation. The infotainment system is powered by the latest SYNC 4 version, while the car features 5G connectivity. Ambient lighting also illuminates the entire cabin, while the seats, steering wheel and new sliding armrest are covered in synthetic leather on the highest trims.

The electric version is still waiting
And under the hood then? This is where the problem lies. Indeed, we expected to discover alongside the new gasoline engines with micro-hybridization the famous electric version of the Puma. For good reason, made official for the first time in 2022, the manufacturer had promised to present it at the beginning of 2024. Unfortunately, it will not be on the occasion of this overhaul. This variant, named Puma Gen-Ewill be revealed in during the year according to its press release. Wait and See as they say.
Coming back to the new gasoline engines, Ford relied on 48 V mild hybridization technologies to obtain more power and better fuel efficiency. So, the 1.0 Ecoboost unit will be available in 125, 155 or 170 hp. On the other hand, bad news for the Flexifuel variant compatible with Superethanol-E85. Indeed, this version appreciated by users for its economical aspect (the liter of E85 is once again negotiated at less than one euro) has been simply deleted…
