Foreign Office: New travel warnings for these vacation countries

New travel warnings: Both in France and Croatia, the number of infections has recently increased worryingly again.

Due to the increasing number of infections, the Federal Foreign Office has issued further travel warnings. In the middle of the holiday season, there are now warnings against "unnecessary, tourist trips" to the regions Île-de-France with the capital Paris and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur in France. In these regions, the number of new infections exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days, which is why they have been classified as risk areas.

What does this mean for tourists?

A few days ago, the Federal Foreign Office warned against traveling to Croatia, more precisely to the counties of Sibenik-Knin and Split-Dalmatia. Here, too, the number of infections has recently increased significantly, although it was previously low in Croatia for several weeks, according to the authority's website.

Spain, with the exception of the Canary Islands, was also classified as a risk area. "Regional sources of infection are particularly in the autonomous communities of Aragón, Catalonia, Cantabria, Navarra, La Rioja, Castile and Léon, in the Basque Country, in the capital region of Madrid and in the Balearic Islands. On Mallorca, Palma de Mallorca is particularly affected. (… ) In the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro) the number of infections is still at a lower level, "reads the relevant website of the Federal Foreign Office.

Tourists in risk areas must prepare for a free mandatory test and, if necessary, domestic quarantine when they return to Germany. Holidaymakers who are put off by the travel warning have the option of canceling bookings and package tours free of charge.
