(dpa) The naval units of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards detained a foreign oil tanker in the Persian Gulf on Saturday for gas oil smuggling.
The tanker illegally transported more than 220,000 liters of gas oil, according to the Fars news agency, according to the judicial authority in the southern Iranian province of Hormuzgan. The eleven foreign crew members have been arrested for the time being.
It was initially unclear under which flag the oil tanker was flying. More information about the incident will be announced later.
