It’s been a while since we’ve heard from him, but a James Bond video game is well and truly in the works. And it promises very heavy to believe this recent announcement.
In 2020 we could learn of the existence of a James Bond game at IO Interactive which is already responsible for the excellent franchise Hitman. Last March we could even discover that the game would be completely independent of the films with a new scenario. Nothing since, even during the Summer Game Fest. But today the developer team is still implicitly giving news with a studio creation announcement.
James Bond: a major project
We can therefore learn that the Hitman game team, IO Interactive, has opened a fifth studio in Brighton, United Kingdom, to help develop its game. james bond, titled Project 007. A core team is reportedly already in place on the south coast of England. This would strengthen the company which is already present in Copenhagen, Malmö, Barcelona and Istanbul. We looked at Leamington Spa and Newcastle, and we thought of Edinburgh. But it seemed to us that the energy of Brighton was the right one. There are a lot of promoters, it’s very close to London and it complements our other studios very well.
In terms of workforce, IO Interactive’s staff can now number 300 people, which is still 100 more than in the spring of 2021. The company’s objective is to be able to reach at least 400 people within a year to grow the number of employees a little more and work even more efficiently on this major game.
Information that says a lot
If this new studio should first work on the mysterious RPG Project Fantasy, which is a totally new license, the CEO explains that eventually the studio will work on all projects. The James Bond Project 007 game needs a lot of hands which can only mean one thing: it is a very ambitious AAA. This video game work which aims to be “the first origin story of James Bond” should therefore do everything to satisfy the fans. However, there are still a few unknowns. For a james bond works it is not enough to take the codes of spy movies but also to have a talented actor. And for the moment we do not know at all who will take this role, it should necessarily be a young actor, remains to be seen to what extent.
