Formula 1 in Canada: How to watch qualifying for free on TV and live stream

The qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix will take place in Formula 1 on Saturday evening. We will show you on which channels you can watch the qualification for free on TV and live stream.

On Saturday, June 8th, the qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix will take place in Formula 1. Will Red Bull fight back or are the teams around McLaren and Ferrari already too close? You can see all of this today from 10 p.m.

You can watch the weekend on pay TV via Sky Q or as a live stream online via Wow. RTL+, SRF and Servus TV will also broadcast the qualifying free of charge.

Qualifying on Sky

Sky will broadcast the qualifying on Sky Sport F1 on pay TV – a Sky Q subscription is required.

The qualifying on RTL

  • Saturday, 8 June, qualifying from 22:00 on RTL+

As you may already know, the RTL channel is broadcasting some of the races of the new season on free TV. There are also occasional qualifying sessions. However, these can only be seen in the live stream on RTL+.

Watch RTL+ live stream online in your browser

You can find all legal live streams from RTL+ on this page. Unless otherwise stated, you do not need to register or pay for the stream.

Since all streams run directly in the browser, you can start the stream on a laptop and connect it to the TV. With the appropriate resolution and bandwidth, you will get a full picture on your TV. Alternatively, you can make your TV “smart” and then start the stream directly on the TV using the integrated browser.

Qualifying on Servus TV

Sky holds the broadcasting rights to Formula 1 in Germany. In Austria, however, these are held by Servus TV and ORF, who alternate between showing the races. This weekend, it is the turn of the private broadcaster Servus TV. Both broadcasters broadcast the races in Austria on free TV and also for free online. However, the live streams are protected from access from abroad by a country lock.

Unlike in Austria, the broadcasting rights are not divided up. Here, the broadcaster SRF will broadcast all 24 races of the coming season. Here, too, the country block can be overcome using a VPN. This again creates a legal grey area.

In Belgium, the broadcaster RTBF Auvio has the broadcasting rights for Formula 1. Unlike in Austria, they do not have to share the rights. The broadcast is in French and can be accessed via their own website.

The highlights on YouTube
