The American private equity company, owner of the Boston Red Sox and the Liverpool Football Club, has taken a minority stake in the Aston Martin F1 team. According to a person close to the matter cited by ‘Bloomberg’, this operation values Aston Martin around 1 billion pounds sterling ($1.2 billion). This is the first time that Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll has sold shares in his F1 team. The deal comes on the eve of the high-profile Las Grand Prix and shows the growing appeal of F1 in the United States, Aston Martin said in a statement.
“As an investor in several leading sports franchises, Arctos brings deep knowledge of the sector, and I am delighted that Aston Martin is joining such a prestigious portfolio. The team has enjoyed huge success this season with eight podium finishes and our highest points total as a team, but our collective ambition is greater,” said Lawrence Stroll.
