Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton will change his name to his mother’s surname.
As the 2022 F1 season begins in a few days, the seven-time world champion has confided that he will add his mother’s surname (Carmen Larbalestier) to his own. It will now be necessary to call him Lewis Hamilton-Labarlestier.
“It would mean a lot to my family. I am very proud of my family name, Hamilton. Maybe none of you know that my mother’s name is Larbalestier, and I’m about to add it to my name, the Mercedes driver said in an interview conducted in Dubai. I don’t really understand the idea that when people get married, the woman loses her name. My mother, I really want her name to continue with the name Hamilton.”
The Mercedes driver, who dreams of an eighth title to beat the historic world crown record, should see this change take place soon, but not before the first Grand Prix this weekend in Bahrain.
Lewis Hamilton spent part of his childhood with his mother, despite his parents’ divorce when he was a young child.
