Second win for Larry ten Voorde at home

Larry ten Voorde was unbeatable at his home race at the Circuit Zandvoort. After winning Saturday’s race, the Dutchman from the GP Elite team also won the sixth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland on Sunday. Porsche Junior Bastian Buus from the Allied Racing team finished second.

There was no getting around him in Zandvoort: Dutchman Larry ten Voorde celebrated his second win in just over 24 hours in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland on Sunday. As on the previous day, the GP Elite driver fought an exciting duel with Porsche Junior Bastian Buus on the Formula 1 racetrack on the North Sea coast. The Dane, who drives for the Allied Racing team, had to settle for second place again.

“I noticed exactly where Bastian attacked me yesterday. At these points I concentrated on repelling him,” revealed ten Voorde. This strategy worked right from the start. Even when the field picked up speed a second time after a race was interrupted, the two-time champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland didn’t give his Danish rival a chance. “My family is here, my Team GP Elite has a lot of guests – the fact that I can show them two victories in one weekend is just perfect,” said a happy ten Voorde. In the overall standings, the 26-year-old from Enschede extended his lead to 28 points ahead of Harry King, who is now second in the standings.

Porsche junior Bastian Buus is second ahead of rookie winner Robert de Haan

“Larry drove flawlessly – although my race was perfect, I didn’t really have a chance to overtake him,” analyzed Bastian Buus, who finally had to admit defeat by 0.443 seconds. “The positive thing about this weekend for me is that I’m back in the top group after a somewhat bumpy start to the season.” The Porsche Junior is fourth in the standings after six of 16 races and has reduced the gap to those in front of him Harry King and Loek Hartog.

Also in a repeat of their duel on Saturday, Briton Harry King (Allied Racing) and Robert de Haan (HRT Performance) fought for third place. This time, however, the Dutchman, who started only for the second time in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, was able to prevail. The 17-year-old won the rookie classification ahead of Hamburg-based Vincent Andronaco (Allied Racing), the best-placed driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany talent pool. Australia’s Harri Jones (Scherer Sport PHX) completed the rookie podium.

Sauerland Sören Spreng once again best-placed ProAm driver

There was another double victory in the ProAm category: As on the previous day, Sören Spreng (GP Elite) from Sauerland also won this classification in the second race of the weekend. Second and third places went to Michael Essmann (CarTech Motorsport Bonk) and the Bulgarian Georgi Donchev (ProfilDoors by Huber Racing).

“With perfect weather and a great crowd of spectators, we saw two exciting races. Congratulations to Larry ten Voorde and his team GP Elite for the one-two at home. I’m also proud of the drivers from our talent pool, they put in strong performances. On Saturday Alexander Fach was able to reward himself with sixth place and on Sunday Vincent Andronaco in fifth place overall,” commented Hurui Issak, project manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

For the next round, the one-make cup will feature the 375 kW (510 hp) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup at the Nürburgring (August 4th to 6th, 2023) for the seventh and eighth races of the season.
