Formula 1: This is how you can see the first race

Sebastian Vettel and Co. are doing their rounds again: The new Formula 1 season starts this weekend. So fans can be there live.

Finally it starts again: The new season starts in Formula 1, but a lot is unusual. Sebastian Vettel (33) will be sitting in his last races in a Ferrari, the silver arrows are suddenly black, the opening race will not take place in Australia and spectators are not part of the game in times of the corona pandemic. Hopefully it will be exciting anyway. How can fans be there live?

Is Vettel still following in Schumacher's footsteps?

Since 1996, the opening race of Formula 1 has always been held in Melbourne, Australia, with two exceptions in 2006 and 2011. But everything is different this year: Not only the first Grand Prix 2020, but also the first two races of the season will take place in Spielberg, Austria. The kick-off can be seen live on TV on RTL and Sky Sport 2 from 3 p.m. on Sunday. You can join Sky Go, Sky Ticket and F1 TV Pro via stream.

The only alternative for fans to be close to their idols: For the time being, Formula 1 will take place without a spectator. The hygiene concept provides for a maximum of 3,000 people on the racetrack. Among them are 800 employees from the ten racing teams alone. In addition there are officials, marshals and media representatives and the crews of the framework series, which will also be held.

For German Formula 1 enthusiasts, there is actually only one question this year: can Sebastian Vettel still follow in the footsteps of Michael Schumacher (51) at Ferrari? However, the dream of a common title seems more than ever and so the Scuderia did not extend the contract with the four-time world champion. Also new: reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton (35) will present himself in a new guise. The Mercedes racing team announced that it would be sending a black racing car onto the asphalt as part of the "Black Lives Matter" movement.
