American actor Tom Hanks recently revealed that he does not believe at all in specific scenes of “Forrest Gump”, finally becoming cult. Find out what sequences they are!
The feature film Forrest Gump, a great classic of the 90s crowned with six Oscars, is full of cult scenes. And among them, there are some that Tom Hanks did not believe at all. A big doubt which he had directly expressed to the director Robert Zemeckis before the shooting.
“In Forrest Gump, everything we shot on the park bench in Savannah, Georgia, was just interstitial stuff, filler for a possible narrative part”told Tom Hanks last June in the ReelBlend podcast of CinemaBlend.
And the Hollywood star, then in full promotion of the biopic Elvis, to narrate the way in which he expressed his reservations to Robert Zemeckis: “I said to him, ‘Is anybody going to care about that guy sitting on a bench? What is that ? I mean, nobody knows what’s in that box.”
“We ended up shooting those scenes, which were probably 13 pages of dialogue, in a day and a half”continues the actor. “Everything was written on cards, but after a while I didn’t need to refer to it anymore, because I had gotten used to it.”
