Forsee Power partners with EDF Store & Forecast to develop mobile electricity storage systems


Forsee Power continues its contribution to the decarbonization of transport by signing a partnership with EDF Store & Forecast. This would make it possible to extend the life cycle of batteries by integrating them into mobile stationary storage.

Forsee Power, which manufactures battery systems where customization is fundamental, such as buses, construction machinery, special vehicles or trains, has announced a collaboration with EDF subsidiary, EDF Store & Forecast, specialist in solutions smart battery storage. This partnership aims to develop new mobile and intelligent electricity storage systems, in particular thanks to second-life batteries.

Forsee Power will be responsible for supplying battery packs from heavy vehicles, whether first or second life. For its part, EDF Store & Forecast will take charge of these packs to reuse them in its mobile stationary storage and market them. The combination of energy management systems (EMS) and its storage must allow ” to optimize an electrical ecosystem” according to customer needs.

With this agreement, the life cycle of the batteries will be maximized. Indeed, even if the level of energy present in the batteries is no longer sufficient for the operation of vehicles after 5 to 10 years, it remains relatively high and not negligible, with approximately 75-80% of its original capacity. . Consequently, reusing these batteries in EDF Store & Forecast stationary storage not only improves their lifespan but also their economic value before recycling.

Vincent Gauthier, director of the Forsee Power Services activity, declares that the ” high energy density battery packs dedicated to heavy transport will support the growth of the market for mobile stationary storage solutions necessary for the decarbonization of maintenance operations and the adoption of the production of renewable energies that can be used at any time “.

The integration of a battery within an electricity network operator is planned for 2022. This would replace diesel-powered thermal generators with an alternative that does not produce CO2. Thus, during cuts due to work or unforeseen climatic conditions, customers would always be supplied with electricity thanks to the use of local solar energy stocks.
