Fortnite: a big change for the Locker and the Shop which will divide

If one of the main new features of update 29.20 of Fortnite this Tuesday is the launch of the Neon Spree For Rocket Racing, a more general change is making headlines and is already dividing opinions on the Web. While the interface of Locker since the beginning of Chapter 5 does not necessarily please, Epic Games decided to make another questionable change instead of reacting to this feedback. Result, cosmetic item rarities have simply been removed ! Forget them skins legendary and others, now only series like Gaming legends And Bleuvage. The reason given officially is not very convincing and some players fear that this will lead to price increases without quality following, since scarcity generally impacted prices in the Shop.

This bad news is nevertheless accompanied by the announcement of a future welcome change (to make things easier?), namely the addition of a timer indicating how much time remains before an object leaves the rotation of the Shop. There, at least, it’s useful! Moreover, it is now possible to modify the style of objects obtained in ranked play reflecting the rankwhile it was previously stuck at the highest reached.

In update 29.20 released today, we’ve changed how Fortnite’s locker and item shop work.

REMOVED RARARITY LEVELS FOR COSMETIC ITEMS

The store has changed significantly to accommodate several types of cosmetic items and items usable in different experiences. We have therefore chosen to remove the old system of colors and labels indicating the rarity of a cosmetic item, inspired by Battle Royale. On the other hand, we keep the series of cosmetic items (like the Icons or Gaming Legends series), to help you easily find your favorite items!

COMING SOON: ADDING PICK-UP DATES FOR EACH ITEM

We recently removed the global store refresh count to display the refresh time for the player’s specific time zone. Starting at the end of May 2024, we will also add the expected removal date of each cosmetic item from the store, directly on the item page.

If necessary, V-Bucks are on sale on Amazon And to the Fnac.
