Fortnite: Apple changes its policy, the Epic Games game soon back on iOS!

In 2020, Epic Games and his boss Tim Sweeney had launched a crazy battle against AppleAnd Google to a lesser extent. Accusing smartphone manufacturers of overtaxing microtransactions in games on theApp Store and the Google Play Store, Apple And Google have completely removed Fortnite from their platformswhile the Free-to-play Battle Royale was at the height of his popularity.

On Android, users can install the app Epic Games via file .APK, the platform being less locked than iOS. But on the iPhone And iPadwell even if it is possible to take advantage of the Battle Royale in a roundabout way thanks to cloud gamingwe had to wait long months during which Epic Games And Apple faced each other in court. But ultimately, Apple changes its policy regarding third-party applications.

As announced in a statement, Apple will allow streaming video game applications and applications allowing access to other games on iOS. Fortnite falls into this last category, it will logically be possible to download the application Epic Games on iOS then download Fortnite via it, as on Android at present.

Epic Games was quick to announce on X/Twitter that “Fortnite will return to Europe on iOS thanks to the Epic Games application”. A change possible thanks to DMATHE Digital Market Act applied in the European Union and which caused Apple to falter. This will come into force in March 2024 and will notably prevent platforms from monopolizing the market via their ecosystems, which have until now been closed, especially on Apple’s side. Fortnite will therefore make its big return to iOS this yearbut we will have to wait to find out the precise release date.
