The first Fortnite Champion Series of Chapter 3 have already started, with a very dense format that will run over a fortnight, as for the previous edition. As a reminder, the FNCS are now only made up of two qualifying sessions. On the other hand, it is the semi-final which is gaining in importance this year, with three sessions, during which all the teams which make the top 1 automatically win their sesame for the grand final.
How is each qualifying session?
Session 1
- Thursday February 17 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: qualifying open, the 400 best duos move on to Round 2
- Friday February 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Round 2, 7 matches, the 50 best duos move on to Round 3
- Friday, February 18 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.: round 3, 6 matches, the top 8 advance directly to the final. All other duos receive series points based on their ranking, which qualify for the semi-finals.
Session 2
- Saturday February 19 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: qualifying open, the 400 best duos move on to Round 2
- Sunday February 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.: round 2, 7 matches, the 50 best duos move on to round 3
- Sunday February 20 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: round 3, 6 matches, the top 8 advance directly to the final. All other duos receive series points based on their ranking, which qualify for the semi-finals.
The duo format should logically persist in almost all major competitions for 2022 (while last year, trios were in the spotlight). This implies that if the members of the teams get along well, they can potentially keep the same duo throughout the coming year. The last duo FNCS dates back to April 2020, with the coronation of the French Nayte and Andilex in season 2 of chapter 2!
