Fortnite: the 8 typical profiles of players encountered in voice

More the merrier, the merrier. The formula also applies to Fortnite, where it’s often more fun to play as part of a team than alone. And when everyone is sleeping in our friends list, we can totally launch into the very special “fill up” mode, and meeting up with total strangers. It is then a “separate” experience that begins, since unlike LoL for example, Fortnite voice chat is open by default when playing with strangers.

Under these conditions, gaming sessions – often colorful – tend to seriously affect our mental health. We have even concocted a typology of unknown players crossed on the vocal. Have you completed your pokedex of these phenomena of the cat?

1 – The one who doesn’t care (but really)

Playing in a duo, trio or squad is above all to have the feeling of being a team, even if our interactions are imperfect. Moving together, listening to pings, covering a knocked out ally… That’s team spirit. Except that in “filling” mode, we always come across a totally disconnected guy one day or another. He jumps off the bus when he feels like it, lands 1500m from the rest of the team, and of course doesn’t let go of a single word or ping. Well bro? The “Play Solo” button exists at worst, doesn’t it?

2 – The toxic

A figure unfortunately quite common on the Fortnite voice chat… Empathy and gentleness, it’s not his thing. Rough formwork, he drops you a good “but come help me the ****** of your race! ” if you ever drag a little to come and revive him. By far the least pleasant profile to come across, so we remind you that mute a player (or the whole squad) is an option that you should not hesitate to choose in those times!

3 – The Shy

You hear regular breathing coming from his microphone, and you know he hears you because he reacts rather well to the instructions you issue by voice. Yet not a word comes out of his mouth. And why not, after all ! As long as they follow calls, players don’t have to be mic-addicted extroverts. Undeniably one of the most pleasant profiles to come across, not annoying for a penny.

4 – The house as if you were there

Often a young player, his microphone (poorly tuned) makes you enjoy everything that happens in the house. The barking of the dog, the TV in the background, the reggaeton coming out of the enclosure attached to the PC… All that in an ultra sizzling cocktail. Well done if you can last more than a minute without bleeding from your ears, but for us, that’s a mute direct.

5 – The guy who doesn’t believe in revive cards

You engage in a fight against another squad, with shield and good weapons. Exchanges of fire, a boxfight that promises to be good… And there, chaos: your mystery ally is knocked out. Neither one nor two, he leaves the game furiously. Without a goodbye, nothing.

As expected, your squad emerges victorious from the fight, but it is impossible to revive the raise. Too bad, even if he would have been finished, the resuscitation bus was right next to it. Falling in battle happens, so please trust your allies a little bit to get you back in the saddle!

6 – The one who carries strong

You are neither an ultra regular player nor a creative warrior. For you, Fortnite is above all about relaxation, and this is what leads you to “fill” mode, where randomly generated teams are no fuss. And there, you come across a UFO. An aspiring pro who blasts enemy teams in 1v4. He does not bring it back, and besides plays rather silently, but he offers you a top 1 absolutely free, on a plate. Pretty cool, though you suspect a bit of a tag here for lathering up.

7 – The Dream Group

Might as well warn you right away: this category does not come across every day. But sometimes, an astonishing osmosis occurs in the team, between 4 complete strangers. Homogeneous level of play, fluid communication without nervousness… A little tryhard but not too much, a little yolo but not too much… Certain vocal experiences go simply well, without even a sizzling microphone.

8 – The one who rushes his challenges

He is sometimes there for the top 1, but that is not at all his primary motivation. Often silent or even downright mute, he jumps off the battle bus to complete his quests in the lost corners of the island. With the rest of the team, you are a bit at a loss: should you follow him in this spawn doubtful? Or maintain the course towards the landing desired by the other three?

The clock is ticking, and for lack of decision everyone lands right to left, without any real agreement. Of course, the game ends prematurely. Never mind: your mystery ally has collected 18,000 EXP for their Seasonal Battle Pass!
