Fortnite’s latest LAN? This goes back exactly to February 23, 2020, more than two years ago. Shortly after, the Covid generated an unprecedented global health crisis, forcing publishers to cancel face-to-face events one by one. Epic Games’ Battle Royale had been hit hard by these restrictions; More than any other competitive game, in fact, since with 100 players to gather in the same place, Fortnite LANs were very incompatible with any health regulations.
But this dirty period is ancient history. Rejoice, fellow competitors, because Fortnite LANs are back! Hostilities will resume with a Dreamhack from June 18 to 20, in Sweden.
Two tournaments
The DreamHack tournament in Jönköping marks the big comeback of LANs, especially since it will actually be dual. It will include a “standard” Fortnite part, and another “Zero Build”. Each game is cash prized up to $100,000. This is the first time that a competition without constructions will take place in LAN, in all the history of Fortnite.
At present, the Dreamhack site has not revealed all the information on the formats of the two tournaments. But these are opens, and all you have to do is buy your participant ticket and travel to Sweden to play! The crème de la crème of Fortnite competitors will obviously be there, even if many players are just waiting for one thing: a World Cup announcement. In LAN and in due form.
Even though it doesn’t come with a maintenance window, this latest Fortnite hotfix is worth its weight in gold. It indeed dusts off old weapons that we haven’t seen in-game for years.
