Forza Motorsport: Release date and gameplay at the Summer Game Fest Xbox conference

While the first extension dedicated to Forza Horizon 5 in partnership with Hot Wheels was unveiled during the Summer Game Fest, the conference dedicated to Microsoft, the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, will still have unveiled crucial news for this license: the next opus will land soon, and it is simply called Forza Motorsport! A promising announcement for car simulation enthusiasts, all in video!

Forza Motorsport release date

If the developers at Turn 10 Studios weren’t very specific about the official release date of Forza Motorsport, they did offer a relatively precise range about it during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2022. Verdict: it will be for spring 2023! Admittedly, it’s thin and wide enough for the biggest fans of the license, but we already know that the next giant of automotive simulation will be deployed within a year at the most. It’s still a long way off, of course, but…

On the side of the ports, nothing very exceptional in the program: the game is completely designed for the Xbox Series X | S, it is therefore exclusively on these consoles but also on PC that it will be available. On the other hand, excellent news for Game Pass holders: Forza Motorsport will be available in it from the day of its release at no additional cost!

Always more realistic, always more Forza

Sold as “the most realistic racing game ever created”, Forza Motorsport has it under the hood, and it is certainly not the gameplay demo unveiled during the conference dedicated to Microsoft which will say the opposite. Not only suitable for 4K compatible monitors, it naturally also includes realistic Ray Tracing, including during races. The rendering is amazing to say the least, and that’s an understatement.

Still, that’s not all Forza Motorsport has to offer. Although its realism will probably make forget the recent disappointments of the fans with regard to the license, the return of certain iconic circuits should please a good number of players. Among them are in particular:

  • Mapple Valley
  • Spa Francorchamps
  • Laguna Seca Raceway

But new ones have also already been announced. Although not many at the moment, it is strongly hoped that this is only temporary and that the list will grow by the release of the game next year, three new tracks will thus be deployed in addition to the three aforementioned. We also know that one of them will be in Japan, while another will be more in the south of the African continent.

On the technical side, everything is new” as the demo indicates. The developers used a device called “photogrammetry” both for the tracks and for the environments where they are located in order to offer the most faithful rendering possible to reality. The result is there still breathtaking, so much so that one would almost doubt that it is not a real car race.Similarly, the day/night cycles and weather fluctuations have already been revealed as present on all the circuits , the temperature of the tracks will be a new variable available and multiple elements already present have been made much more realistic, tire management or pit stops for example.

So good, certainly Forza Motorsport is still relatively far away and we will have to get our hands on it to get a concrete opinion of the real revolution that it is supposed to embody. Nevertheless, this first draft in-engine without cutting is particularly interesting and makes you dream! See you in spring 2023!
