Forza Motorsport will be transformed following the controversy

Forza Motorsport has received a very good reception overall, but problems have been irritating some players for months. Turn10 Studios is aware of this and wants to make great efforts.

In the space of two months, Xbox players were treated to two great exclusives last year. Starfield, Bethesda’s space RPG, and Forza Motorsport. The latest iteration of the car simulation from Turn10 Studios. A 100% new generation vintage which was to mark a turning point for the license. And in many ways, the challenge is met and the game knows how to be impressive. A clear evolution, it is undeniable, but it is not perfect. Various points really frustrated some budding drivers who expected better. Be patient, the developers have presented several upcoming changes.

Major developments for Forza Motorsport

Who says new year, says new resolutions! The Turn10 Studios teams took the time to communicate to make an announcement about Forza Motorsport. The developers are busy adding cars, tracks and making fixes, but also want to finally resolve deeper issues raised by the community. Where to start ? The progression system which will be reviewed this year, and it is one of the top priorities for the coming months. “Despite feedback from many players who like the system as it is, for others it does not deliver the Forza Motorsport experience expected. To correct this, we are looking at what changes need to be made. Our goal is to keep what works for those who like the system, and to fix problems noted by others.”.

The second big problem identified by Turn10 Studios on Forza Motorsport is the racing rules which can go off the rails during certain situations. In the event of intentional collisions or leaving the track, inconsistent or unjustified penalties may apply. “We have heard that high-speed collisions sometimes result in no penalty, while low-speed collisions do.” explains the studio. A solution to this problem? Yes, work closely with players who have a lot of bottlenecks, in order to collect their data which will make it possible to adjust the disruption of penalties. And better artificial intelligence?

Better AI for the Xbox Series X|S and PC car simulation

AI is one of the three points that is in the sights of Turn10 Studios. Reviewing the feedback, players are complaining about the behavior of Forza Motorsport’s artificial intelligence. Abrupt braking and at times too strong in light bends, sudden slowdowns, lack of acceleration when exiting a bend, or too strict following of the trajectory lines, the faults are numerous. “We understand how important it is to have fair and competitive AI in Forza Motorsport. Correcting the overly aggressive AI or even obtaining a cleaner race start at the first corner, as well as the other problems mentioned are our priorities for the start of 2024”.

The developers at Forza Motorsport have heard the complaints, of course. And besides, last December, a big patch was deployed to add plots, review elements affecting gameplay, accessibility, instability of the PC version, etc. At the Game Awards 2023, the car sim won the “Innovation in Accessibility” and “Best Racing/Sports Game” awards.
