Found by the fire brigade – alcoholic driver flees seriously injured in the forest

When two vans collided in the Ilztal in eastern Styria on Monday evening, both drivers were drunk! One of them ran into the forest, seriously injured, and that’s where his escape ended: he was found by the fire department in a very dazed state.

At around 7.20 p.m. two small vans crashed together on the B54 in Prebensdorf. Both drivers come from the Weiz district – and both were drunk, one 35-year-old was seriously injured. He sustained serious injuries, but still wanted to escape from the scene of the accident into an adjacent forest. After about 200 meters he remained on the ground, dazed. Firefighters, who also used thermal imaging cameras, found him after a good 15 minutes, and a rescue helicopter flew the man to the LKH Graz. The second driver was also injured. The second driver, 28 years old, was taken to the LKH Hartberg with minor injuries. The Pischelsdorf and Neudorf-Großpesendorf fire departments were on duty with 45 people.
