A grotto has become a deadly trap for four Greeks who were looking for a treasure near the tourist town of Loutraki on Saturday night.

The fire brigade and the police confirmed the accident. "They were looking for gold coins," said the region's mayor, Giorgos Gionis, to Greek media. According to the mayor, the four treasure hunters – all residents of Loutraki – were poisoned by exhaust fumes from a generator that they used to illuminate the grotto.
