Four dreamy peaks – Contemplative hikes through the Advent season

The Advent hikes are a cherished tradition for many Carinthians. The first station today was at 1649 meters above sea level at the summit cross on the Topitza.

Today is the first Sunday in Advent, and many were drawn to the mountain devotion, which took place at 11 a.m. at the summit cross on the Topitza near Bad Eisenkappel. “I’m already looking forward to welcoming many well-known as well as new Advent hikers to this year’s Advent hikes,” says mountain chaplain Roland Stadler. For the long-time Advent hiker Willi, the “mountain tours are simply ideal to escape – at least for a short time – the hustle and bustle and stress of the pre-Christmas period”. Dobratsch on the third Sunday in Advent, before going up to Monte Lussari near Tarvisio on the fourth Sunday, where cathedral provost Engelbert Guggenberger will celebrate an Advent mass with us. The Carinthian mountain rescue service has supported the Advent hikes for years. The individual hikes are neither organized nor guided. Participation is at your own risk.
