Four-goal spectacle in “Letzi” – 2: 2 in Letzigrund: Zurich almost tripped YB – sport

The crossbar trembled twice over YB goalkeeper Anthony Racioppi, followed by a goal twice: First, Aiyegun Tosin was sent down in the 57th minute by strike partner Roko Simic. The Nigerian flicked the ball off the bar. In a direct counterattack, the YB-Express really got rolling. Monteiro was sent deep and confidently pushed the ball past FCZ keeper Yannick Brecher.

In the 75th minute the bar trembled again – this time with the better ending for FCZ. Substitute Blerim Dzemaili put it back on to Fabian Rohner, who also came on as a substitute, but failed on the beams. The ball bounced in front of Tosin’s feet, who had no problem netting the play equipment.

YB can react again

However, the Young Boys were not deterred by the renewed deficit: In the 84th minute, Cedric Itten played a cross into the Zurich penalty area. Substitute Christian Fassnacht fueled up in the middle and finished with a powerful shot to make it 2-2.

Lots of fighting in the first half

The fireworks set off by the two fans before the game weren’t transferred to the pitch at first. The game was characterized by many duels and small fouls. Neither team was able to create real chances to score. Raphael Wicky’s team had more possession – FCZ was in wait.

The 22nd matchday in the Super League and the 23rd round of the Challenge League this weekend are all about the earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria on February 6th. In addition to a minute’s silence before all games, the Swiss Football League, in cooperation with Unicef, calls for donations. More than 50,000 people died in the devastating earthquake almost 3 weeks ago.

The time had come in the 40th minute: FCZ striker Jonathan Okita was able to control a long ball from goalkeeper Brecher. The pass attempt to Tosin failed and with a bit of luck the ball landed in the feet of Nikola Boranijasevic. The completely free-standing Okita took over his cross, who was able to shoot the ball past Racioppi undisturbed. But YB wasn’t at a loss for an answer this time.

Next Sunday, FC Zurich will again welcome Servette at home. YB will continue away in the cup on Tuesday. The Bernese have to go to the canton derby against FC Thun before the Young Boys travel back to Zurich to FC Winterthur on Saturday.
