  • The Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud also wins the second competition of the 71st Four Hills Tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
  • Gregor Deschwanden, the only Swiss at the start, qualifies for the second round of the New Year’s competition and takes 21st place.
  • The third competition of the tour takes place in Innsbruck on Wednesday.

Halvor Egner Granerud also proved his strong form in the second competition of the Four Hills Tournament. After his victory at the start in Oberstdorf, the Norwegian was also unbeatable in the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Thanks to a jump of 140 m, he was already in the lead at half-time. In the final, Granerud made the longest jump of the day with 142 m and celebrated a sovereign victory.

Slovenia’s Anze Lanisek finished second, 6.4 points behind. Pole Dawid Kubacki completed the podium (9.3 points back). Granerud extended his lead in the overall standings. He is now 26.8 points ahead of his closest pursuer, Kubacki.

Deschwanden missed top 20

Gregor Deschwanden improved after the disappointing start and rank 37 in Oberstdorf. After finishing 17th in qualifying, the Lucerne native made it through to the second round without any problems as 18th with a jump of 127.5 m. However, he did not make an ideal attempt there. With 126.5 m, Deschwanden fell back to 21st place.
