Four months after the crime – financial problems: woman invented robbery

A 36-year-old woman was attacked by two men on August 1st near Bleiburg and robbed of cash that had previously been withdrawn from a bank. But now investigators found out: the robbery was fake. The woman invented the serious crime.

August 1st: In Klagenfurt, a Slovenian woman withdraws a four-digit amount of cash from a bank and drives in her car towards Bleiburg. At around 12.45 p.m. the woman has to stop at St. Michael’s and take a breath because her gastritis is bothering her. Suddenly a man approaches, stares at the woman, and the second perpetrator presses her head against the steering wheel. The envelope with the money is gone. The woman raises the alarm. An alarm search was immediately triggered, but without success. The lack of success can now be explained: During a new interrogation, the 36-year-old became entangled in contradictions. Your information about the alleged robbery does not match. She finally admits to having invented the crime. She cites financial problems due to building the house, miscalculations when taking out loans, and car repairs that had to be done at short notice. “Robbery itself is a serious crime. The court can also impose hefty penalties for fictitious robbery,” said Hannes Lassnig, department inspector in the State Criminal Police Office – Robbery Group.
