INTERVIEW

France 2 broadcast Our unknown lands, which explores the unknown corners of France, is back on Tuesday evening. The guest of its presenter Raphaël de Casabianca is this time the French singer and composer who won 2nd place in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 and who has accumulated 70 million plays for her title Here is : Barbara Pravi. The artist leaves alongside Raphaël de Casabianca to discover Haute-Corse.

The one who had never seen the show before quickly agreed to participate. “I knew the concept of the show”, she specifies at the microphone of Europe 1. “But I had never watched it, because I do not have television. I accepted because I knew what the show was about and that I had the chance to meet Raphaël on Laurent Delahousse’s 8:30 p.m. set. We got along very well right away. I have a bit of a nose, I feel pretty good people in general, and him too. And we immediately liked each other so much that I was like, ‘Let’s go, it’s an adventure!’.”

Crossing the island and human encounters

On the spot, Barbara Pravi crossed on foot the Gulf of Galéria on the west coast, to the Niolu mountains in the center-west of the island. Alongside the globe-trotting host, she went to meet Corsicans who are very attached to the wild nature of their island. And it is through the stories of these shepherds, these beekeepers and these mountain rescuers that the singer discovered a part of Corsica.

“It was a crazy break for ten days, in a daily life that can be a little crazy. But the daily life of the people I met there is also crazy and human in a certain way”, tells the singer to Culture Media. “Raphaël the butcher — who goes to 15 villages twice a week to sell meat when he is 30 years old, and who took over his father’s box because he doesn’t want it to get lost— is of a brilliant and genuine humanity. From meeting to meeting, everything was very logical. I felt carried like in a film by Claude Sautet.”

Our unknown lands in Haute-Corse with Barbara Pravi is to be seen Tuesday evening on France 2, from 9:10 p.m.
