Market: France: Amazon logistics sites disrupted by wage walkouts

PARIS (Reuters) – The eight logistics sites of e-commerce giant Amazon in France have experienced disruption following employee walkouts amid discontent over wage negotiations, a union representative said.

Amazon Logistics’ press service, however, said the social movement was limited and had no impact on the daily activity of the sites.

Morgane Boulard (CFDT) told Reuters that 1,200 workers had joined the movement since it started on Monday.

In question, a dissatisfaction on the salary negotiations.

If the management of Amazon proposes a salary increase of 3%, the unions are demanding a minimum of 5% increase.

According to Morgane Boulard, the trade unions have agreed not to participate in the negotiations if the increase is less than 5%.

Five unions, namely Sud, CFDT, CGT, CAT, CFE-CGC, have called for walkouts.

Unions and management are to meet again on April 14, according to Morgane Boulard.
