KINSHASA (Reuters) – Emmanuel Macron announced on Saturday in Kinshasa the release of 34 million euros to come to the aid of the populations of the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is added to an envelope of 47 million from the European Union.
The French president made the announcement during a press conference alongside his Congolese counterpart Felix Tshisekedi.
In addition to the release of funds, the European Union has announced the establishment of a “humanitarian air bridge” towards Goma.
It will make it possible “to deliver humanitarian aid in the form of medical and food products as well as a series of other emergency products, in collaboration with Unicef and other humanitarian partners”, writes the European Commission in a press release. .
